Seriously drooling over these pre workout energy balls. It’s the first time I try making something like this and it was a huge success! I have never made any pre workout recipes in part because I usually wake up super early around 6:20 am to get my workout out of the way and the only thing I have time to prepare is 1/2 a banana with almond or peanut butter and chia seeds or a quick 1/2 cup of oatmeal. Both the banana and oatmeal give me the sustained energy I need but I felt like making something different.
I came up with this easy recipe with all natural ingredients and I am OBSESSED. So if you are like me that you cannot workout without something in your stomach and you despise those pre workout drinks loaded with hard core chemicals that are detrimental to your heart and health, try making these 🙂
They can last in your fridge for about a week without a problem so that you can just pop one in your mouth for a quick energy boost.
- 10 pitted dates (about 1 cup)
- 3 tb of peanut butter (no sugar or palm oil added)
- ½ cup of gluten free oats
- 1 tsp cocoa powder
- 2 tb of virgin coconut oil
- 1 tsp chia seeds
- 1 tsp mangrove honey (optional)
- ¼ cup unsweetened shredded coconut
- First, put all the dates in a food processor and process until they become a creamy giant paste
- Then add all the remaining ingredients except the unsweetened shredded coconut and blend. You might need to stop the food processor to redistribute the mixture and pulse again to make sure everything mixes very well.
- Separate the mixture into 16 portions and make balls of about 1 inch diameter
- Place the unsweetened shredded coconut in a plate and roll the balls on top of the coconut so that it sticks to them
- Place in the freezer for about 20 minutes
- Enjoy!
